Our kids outdoor 3 week educational & crafty class helps families raise healthy, confident, and capable kids!

  • Suitable for Kids ages 6-15
  • Limited spots to keep class very small
  • All supplies included and a t-shirt and bag will be provided
  • Our class is outdoor but there are bathrooms and roofed areas for our instructions. Parents must be in attendance or can sit near the areas to avoid distractions with learning. This is NOT a drop off class. READ FAQ

Learning meets nature!

Week 1 Goal: Introduce kids to the concept of ecosystems and plant care through creating their own mini terrarium.

Project 1: Terrarium Building

  • Introduction to terrariums and their importance.
  • Materials provided: Glass containers, potting soil, small rocks or pebbles, various types of small plants (succulents, cacti, moss), decorative elements (pebbles, figurines).
  • Steps:
    1. Layering the bottom with lava rocks for drainage.
    2. Adding Spagnum moss and green moss 
    3. Adding plant with attached soil and roots 
    4. Decorating the terrarium to your liking (mini figurines of your choice that are provided. 
  • Discussion: Importance of watering, sunlight, and care for their terrarium.

Week 2: Paper Making DIY

Week 2 Goal: Engage children in the process of recycling and teach them about sustainability through creating their own paper.

Project 2: Paper Making

  • Introduction to paper making and recycling.
  • Materials provided: Used paper (shredded), blender, water, mesh screens, sponges, drying racks.
  • Steps:
    1. Shredding recycled paper goods and soaking it in water overnight.
    2. Blending the soaked paper into pulp.
    3. Pouring pulp onto mesh screens, pressing out excess water, and drying.
  • Discussion: Importance of recycling and reducing waste, the history of paper making.

Week 3: Microgreens Cultivation

Week 3 Goal: Teach kids about the benefits of growing their own food and introduce them to the concept of microgreens.

Project 3: Microgreens Cultivation

  • Introduction to microgreens and their nutritional benefits.
  • Materials provided: Seedling trays, mulberry paper, various microgreen seeds (such as broccoli, radish, salad green mix), spray bottles for watering.
  • Steps:
    1. Lining tray with mulberry paper 
    2. Sprinkling seeds evenly over the mulberry paper surface
    3. Watering lightly and placing in a warm and out of direct sunlight.
  • Discussion: The importance of fresh food, basic plant care, the growth process of plants.

  • Supplies: All materials included, including a shirt and bag for each participant.
  • Class Structure: Each class begins with a brief introduction to the week's theme followed by hands-on project activities. There will be breaks for snacks and refreshments, as well as time for discussions and sharing experiences.
  • Safety Measures: Parents MUST be in attendance and guidance will be provided at all times to ensure the safety of the children during the activities. All materials used will be child-safe and non-toxic.
